Pictures Of Digipacks...

These are some of the Didi packs that I have found around the house, the Didi packs are from the artists David Guetta and Leona Lewis both very popular and very famous in this modern age. I chose these two artist because their music is very different from each other and they are both completely different  music style and also how they are both presented to their audiences.

David Guetta's Digi pack is a very vibrant coloured style and looks very upbeat meaning it complements his music very well too because, his music is very loud, in your face and has a colourful strong vibe to it. the words look as if they have been spray painted onto the digi pack making it look youthful, exiting and give it a rough side to it. Even the CD is in bright coulors and has the digi pack's name spray painted onto it which make it look genuine, unique and give it 'the mark' of the artist.

However, Leona Lewis's Digi pack is quite the opposite as her's involves colours such as black and white these are primary colours for an emotonally based album therefore, it makes the audience see straight away that the ablum is a heartflet range of songs and also makes the arist appear this way too. What is interesting is that everything is in black and white except her this may have been used to make her standout to the audience viewing or simple to make her look like she is hopeful and looks powerful as she standouts. aA the ablum is called 'Spirit' this resembles a ghostly appearence thus using the colours black and white. The inside is very basic as it has little words and is again black with white text as this then blends in with the outside and makes it look the same type of album.

Problems With My Song Choices...

The biggest problem is one of the songs I picked it's so well known that it would prove impossible to recreate as so many people know the song. This song is called 'Time Warp' by Rocky Horror Picture Show but, as I have never heard the song before I can create my own interpretation of it meanings and as I have neither seen nor heard this song before I have a much more unique image/ideas range of what I would like the video to look like.

However, with the second song choice it is far less known unlike my other choice meaning it would be much easier to create a video for this song as my audience wont know the song as well, allowing me to make the video as both I and my audience see and hear it.

To conclude I will relate back to my audience and see if the songs and ideas that I have picked prove to be benificial to my work. Also, primarily to see which of the two are easiest, interesting and best to pick to produce my music video.

Picking My Music Video...

Picking my music video has been one of the most difficult decision I have had to make in this process, meaning that once I have found it I can then begin to see what my audience think of it meaning I can begin putting images and ideas into action. I have chosen two very different songs for making my music video but I'm not sure which of the two is better the songs are 'Scary' by Britney spears and 'Time Warp' by Rocky Horror Picture Show. As far as I'm aware one of these songs isn't known globally as it is a new song to be released in the future ('Scary' by Britney Spears) and the other is very popular so it would be wise not to use it ('Time Warp' by Rocky Horror Picture Show) as too many people know this song and would expect the video to be a particular style and genre. Meaning I am more likely to choose the song that hasn't been released as it would allow more freedom for my audience and my self.

Laura Mulvey Feminist...

Laura Mulvey is an important character in how music videos are represented in her eyes a music video was seen through a males eyes and also that females where presented in a wrong way for example many would wear too much make-up and would dress with hardly any clothes on making them seem inappropriate through her eyes. It also made them seem more like objects rather than people.

As she was a feminist she and others didn't feel it was right for the music industry to present females in this way.

Goodwins Theory Of Six...

1) Music Videos demonstrate genre characteristics for example a stage performance in metal videos or even dance routines for boy/girl bands. http://www.muzu.tv/gb/thewanted/glad-you-came-music-video/998724/

2) There is a relationship between the lyrics and visuals - either illustrates the video helps convey the meaning of the song, amplifying the video repeats or exaggerates an effect, moment or phrase from the song or contradicting the video completely ignores the song. http://www.muzu.tv/gb/ladygaga/born-this-way-music-video/920439/

3) There is a relationship between the music and the visuals - either illustrates, amplifying or contradicting. http://www.muzu.tv/gb/nicolescherzinger/wet-music-video/1069955/

4) The demand of the record label will include the need for lots of close ups of the artist(s) and the artsiest may develop motifs which recur across their work. For example the way that Maroon 5 has a large amount of close ups that are used in the video to make you feel like you know them. http://www.muzu.tv/gb/maroon5/moves-like-jagger-music-video/1051598/

5) There is frequently reference to notion of looking - Meaning that a relationship between the artist and the viewer is formed because it looks to be if they are singing to you and the camera acts more like a window than a camera.

6) There is often intersexual reference - to films, other music videos etc...

Different Types Of Music Videos...

There are three different types of music videos that make up the videos of today these are as follows Performance, Narrative and Abstract.

A performance music video includes usually a solo or a group of performers either dancing to the song of choice however, it can also just be a group or a solo artist standing and singing into a microphone these are seen to be the easiest of the three as it require the least amount of skill involving camera, computer, editing and organisation skills. Meaning you could in fact set a recorder from one angle as a group either sings or dances which then allows you to produce a music video much easier than a Narrative or a Abstract video. An example of this would be the link as follows:  http://www.muzu.tv/gb/thesaturdays/. This performance includes both dancing and singing and is more commonly used for producing pop music videos these prove to be dominant over this type of video. As they are the easiest genre of music produce.

The second type of music video is the Narrative video which involves a video that isn't related to the song in many ways at all but may just concentrate on a word or sentence from the song chosen. A great example would be ColdPlay's The Scientists link: http://www.muzu.tv/gb/coldplay/the-scientist-edit-music-video/154020/. This type of music video is used for almost any genre of song meaning it is the most popular of the three to produce. It also allows the maker to make the song unique to others as shown in the link that ColdPlay's song is done in reverse. This can prove key for gaining an audience as it grabs their attention as it is a unique video style meaning it also presents questions for the audience such as, How did they make it the way it is? Which grabs the viewers attention.

The third type is the Abstract video, this contains a video of images or short clips that have no connection to each other but, are co-ordinated to match the pace of the song. This is used for videos that look for a unique audience that likes the song and doesn't particulary care about the video or perhaps they just like the style of the video. As I could not find a good example of a Abstract music video I haven't posted a link. This go's to show that it isn't the commonly used video and this may indicate that it is one of the harder videos to make.

Homework...

This post is from home im going to be researching music videos with specific ideas as shown in previous posts. In this research I will be conducting a research/experiment to see how both darkness is used in music video and how it is presented to the target audience but, not only will I carry out this research, i will be looking into how the water element is used throughout music videos, this may indicate weither or not I can use both of these key elements in my own creation. The website i will visit are as follows muzu, google and grooveshark as these have a range of different genres of music such as metal to pop.

But First...

I have an idea on what type of genre of music i will,  Im certain that Iwant to create a viedo involoving a darker theme but, I would like to involve rain or water in one way or another. But, its deciding on the next step.

First of all I will need to see how other music videos have incorporated water into a video of their own. Or in fact if the water has been edited into it, as its are second lesson on this piece of work I still have time to piece together what i will work with.
